In September and October 2015 we worked  with professional dancers from Loop Dance Company exploring further the ‘Interactive Puzzles’ element of “The Land of Dancing Maths” project.

By the end of this phase we produced three mini interactive problem solving pieces (puzzles).

In January and February 2016 we received funding from the Medway Small Grants Programme to run the MATHS DANCE; Dancing Puzzles project for the community in Medway.

We have used the Medway Small Grants Programme funding to present and share one of the three puzzles. The project involved a creative learning after-school workshop addressed to Year 7 and Year 8 students and their families and a CPD workshop for KS3 and KS4 maths teachers, dance teachers and local dance artists.

The project aimed to:

  • increase confidence when problem solving and when moving,
  • change negative attitudes towards mathematics and
  • inspire young people and adults to want to find a solution to a problem and move.
